Submissions in fiction, non-fiction and poetry categories will be accepted until Wednesday, Sept. 30. The competition is open to all Missourians age 18 and over.
“We have a considerable writing talent throughout our state,” says Dr. Gerald Cohen, the event’s organizer and a professor of foreign languages at Missouri S&T, “I’m glad that we are able to encourage and highlight that talent in this way.”
Awards will be given for first, second and third place in each category. The winners will be announced at the Writing Competition and Recognition Evening, which will be held at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 16, at Christ Episcopal Church, 1000 N. Main St. in Rolla. The winning authors will read their works during the reception. The Writing Competition and Recognition Evening is free and open to the public.
Submissions for the competition can be made electronically to email@example.com or by hard copy to Arts Rolla, 1008 Holloway St. in Rolla. If submitting a hard copy, contestants should submit two copies of the work to be judged.
