Missouri S&T grad student found dead

Malaka Thilakaratne, 33, a Ph.D. student in applied mathematics at Missouri University of Science and Technology, was found dead at an off-campus residence Wednesday, Jan. 14.

Thilakaratne, who earned a master of science degree in applied mathematics from Missouri S&T in 2012, was from Kandy, Sri Lanka.

The Rolla Police Department responded to the scene and is investigating the death. No foul play is suspected.
