Celebrate spring with a jazz concert at S&T

Missouri University of Science and Technology’s Jazz Band presents its spring concert at 7 p.m. Friday, April 26, in Leach Theater of Castleman Hall, 10th and Main streets in Rolla.

The concert, “It’s Friday Night Jazz,” includes music made popular by Dizzy Gillespie, Frank Sinatra, Gordon Goodwin and Maynard Ferguson. Vocal performances will be presented by Ian Ramsey, a junior in computer science from Rolla, Mo., as well as a “Blues Brothers Tribute” featuring Kamireon Douglas, a senior in applied mathematics from Rolla, Mo., and Colin Ryan, a senior in ceramic engineering from Sherman, Ill.

There will be a “pre-concert” from 6:30-7 p.m. featuring the S&T Jazz Combo under the direction of Emma Bradford, a senior in geological engineering from St. Louis. The Jazz Band is directed by Dave Cress, a lecturer of arts, languages, and philosophy at S&T.

Tickets are $5 for the public and free for Missouri S&T students with student ID and youth age 18 and younger. Tickets are available from the Leach Theatre Box Office, located in the vestibule inside the main entrance to Leach Theatre of Castleman Hall, facing 10th Street.
