Waynesville, Mo., native and former contestant on TV’s “The X Factor” Vino Alan will perform at Missouri University of Science and Technology’s Leach Theatre at 7 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 24.

Tickets are $15 for the public and $10 for Missouri S&T students. Tickets may be purchased at the Leach Theatre Box Office, located in Castleman Hall, 10th and Main streets in Rolla, or by phone at 573-341-4219. Box office hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Alan, or “V” as some Facebook fans call him, is making the rounds locally, performing in intimate settings for fans in and around his hometown before kicking off a tour through larger venues to promote his debut album’s release.

Since the age of four, Alan has been involved with music. His first instrument was the drums, followed by piano, harmonica and saxophone, all while singing in his church choir in St. Robert, Mo.

Alan has performed across the country and for the military. His taste in music ranges from rap to rock ‘n’ roll to country and jazz, and his influences include Miles Davis, Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder and Motley Crue. Calling himself a “soul singer with an edge,” Alan also writes and records his own music.

Alan impressed “The X Factor” judges with his audition performance of Ray LaMontagne’s “Trouble” during the show’s second season. He also received a standing ovation following his performance of “Proud to be an American” from all four judges, including Simon Cowell.

Leigh Cara, a singer-songwriter from California, will open for Alan at the show.
