Lynn Stichnote, director of student financial assistance at Missouri University of Science and Technology, has been named director of admissions at Missouri S&T. She will take her new position on Sept. 1.
Stichnote has served as interim director of admissions since June 1. She replaces Rance Larsen, who now works in enrollment development. Stichnote previously served as director of admissions for six years before becoming director of student financial assistance, a position she has held since 2008.
“Lynn’s previous experience as S&T admissions director, plus her four years as director of student financial assistance, makes her a great advocate for student recruitment on the S&T campus,” says Laura Stoll, vice provost and dean of enrollment management at Missouri S&T. “She has always been a passionate supporter of Missouri S&T.”
While Stichnote was director of admissions from 2002-2008, Missouri S&T’s total enrollment increased by 22 percent from 5,240 students to 6,371 students. New incoming freshmen increased from 815 to 1,056, an increase of 30 percent.
Stichnote holds a bachelor of science in animal science from the University of Missouri-Columbia. She joined the Missouri S&T admissions staff in 1989 and spent two years on the Miner Alumni Association staff before returning to admissions in 2001. She became director of admissions in 2002 and director of student financial assistance in 2008.
A search to fill the vacant director of student financial assistance position will begin soon.
“I am excited about the opportunity to serve an institution of the caliber of Missouri S&T,” Stichnote says. “I look forward to working with the talented admissions team, and with the administrative and academic departments across campus, to continue the tradition of bringing outstanding students to campus.”
