I’m excited about the potential of Twitter to allow me to share information about Missouri S&T and to learn from those who use this tool to communicate.”
Schrader joins a growing number of higher education leaders who are embracing Twitter and other forms of social media. They include Tim Wolfe, president of the four-campus University of Missouri System, which includes Missouri S&T. Wolfe joined Twitter last May.
Twitter use is on the rise among Missouri S&T students. A survey of S&T’s incoming freshman class shows that 14 percent of the respondents say Twitter is the social media platform they use most often. A year ago, just 3 percent of incoming freshmen indicated that Twitter was their social media tool of choice.
A former Missouri S&T student, Jack Dorsey, co-founded Twitter in 2006. More recently, Dorsey founded Square, a mobile payments company.
