For many athletes, getting one opportunity to compete in the Olympic Games is the fulfillment of a lifelong dream. But after getting that first chance to compete on the world’s biggest stage in Beijing, China, four years ago, Tyrone Smith set his sights on making it back and taking another step in his career — one that he hopes will land him on the awards stand later this summer in London, England.
Smith, a 2007 history graduate of Missouri S&T, has qualified for his second Olympic Games in the long jump and will take part in the two-week competition that will begin in London on July 27. As was the case four years ago, Smith will compete for his native country of Bermuda, where he was born and lived until the age of six when he moved to the United States.

Tyrone – what a man! It’s been a pleasure to see him rise to the top in his field! Nothing’s been handed to this guy – he deserves all that he’s worked for. I remain a forever fan!
