Three student leadership organizations at Missouri University of Science and Technology are sponsoring an all-night fundraiser in partnership with St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital to help raise awareness and provide funds for the research and treatment of pediatric cancer and other childhood diseases.
Up ‘Til Dawn will be held at 6 p.m. Saturday, April 21, at the Student Recreation Center at 10th Street and Bishop Avenue in Rolla. The event will feature speakers like former football coach Jack Lengyel, who was featured in the movie We Are Marshall, a Greek Sing battle of the bands competition, a dunk tank and an inflatable jousting game, as well as other fun activities.
Tickets are $5 and may be purchased at the door. Ticket price includes a cup for free soda. Jimmy John’s sandwiches and other snacks will also be available. A raffle will be held and door prizes will be awarded throughout the night.
“The idea behind the event is that cancer never sleeps so neither will we,” says Branden Goad, a sophomore in mining engineering and one of the Up ‘Til Dawn organizers. For the past few weeks, students have been working to find sponsors to raise funds for the event. “Our goal this year is to raise $15,000 at Missouri S&T and we have already raised $10,000. So come help us raise awareness for the cause and have a great time.”
The event is sponsored by the Missouri S&T’s Panhellenic Council, Interfraternity Council and the Student Union Board.
