Five selections from The Tournées Festival, a grant program that brings the best of contemporary French cinema to university campuses, will be a part of the Free Spring 2012 Film Festival at Missouri University of Science and Technology this season. The festival features a total of 14 acclaimed films.
“I am very excited about receiving this grant,'” says Dr. Audra Merfeld-Langston, assistant professor of French in the arts, languages and philosophy department at Missouri S&T. “The Tournées Festival is a wonderful opportunity for Missouri S&T and for the entire Rolla community to get a taste of French culture and to see films that they might not otherwise have discovered. The five French films that make up the festival present a range of genres, themes and perspectives. I hope audiences will enjoy the selection.”
The films are free and open to the public. The movies will be shown at 7 p.m. on Tuesdays in Leach Theatre of S&T’s Castleman Hall, 10th and Main streets in Rolla, Mo., with the exception of Notorious on April 10, which will be screened in the Black Box Theatre, Room 143 Castleman Hall.
