Missouri University of Science and Technology choirs will give a concert at 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 23, at the Christ Episcopal Church, 1000 N. Main St., in Rolla. Choirs performing include the University Choir and the Chamber Choir. The concert is free and open to the public.

Pieces will include the Mass No. 2 in G Major, D. 167, by Franz Schubert. The best known of Schubert’s shorter compositions, the piece was composed in less than a week in 1815. The choirs will use piano accompaniment with several solo vocal sections.

Other pieces will include If Ye Love Me, by Thomas Tallis, Exultate Justi, by Brant Adams, and one of the more popular texts for choirs, If Music Be the Food of Love, set by David Dickau.

The Missouri S&T choirs are conducted by Lorie Francis, a lecturer in the arts, languages and philosophy department at S&T. The University Choir is a non-auditioned group open to students, faculty, staff and community members. The Chamber Choir is a small, auditioned group that focuses on a cappella music.
