S&T professor honored by civil engineering society

Dr. Shamsher Prakash, professor emeritus of civil engineering at Missouri University of Science and Technology, has been named a Distinguished Member of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), the society’s highest accolade.


Worldwide, distinguished membership is only bestowed on 200 of ASCE’s 140,000 members. Prakash will be presented with the award during ASCE’s annual conference Oct. 20-22 in Memphis, Tenn.

ASCE’s is recognizing Prakash for his pioneering work in soil dynamics, seismic analysis and geotechnical engineering. He has published 10 textbooks and hundreds of technical articles. He also has more than 50 years of teaching experience.
