The Missouri University of Science and Technology Symphonic Band and Wind Symphony will perform their final concert of the season at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 25, in Leach Theater of Castleman Hall, 10th and Main streets in Rolla.

Tickets are $3 for the general public and free for Missouri S&T students. Tickets are available between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday through Friday and one hour before the performance in the Leach Theatre Box Office, located in the lobby of Castleman Hall.

“This concert includes something for everyone,” says Dr. Robert J. Cesario, director of bands and orchestras. “We’ll have pieces for the march lover and traditional music fan, as well as selections for those looking for new sounds from the wind and percussion idiom.”

The Symphonic Band will play music by American composers in the first half of the concert, including the opening ballad of Frank Ticheli’s Cajun Folk Songs II, and the patriotic Esprit de Corps, by Robert Jaeger. They will also play the poignant Elegy for a Young American, written by Ronald Lo Presti as a tribute to Robert Kennedy shortly after his assassination.

The Wind Symphony will take the stage in the second half of the concert. Their selections will include Festive Overture, by Russian composer Dimitri Shostokovich, and the boisterous Slava! by Leonard Bernstein.
