KMST’s annual membership picnic to be held Sept. 18

Missouri S&T’s public radio station KMST will hold its annual membership picnic from 4:30-7:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 18, at Lions Club Park on U.S. Highway 63 South in Rolla.


KMST will supply pulled pork and smoked turkey provided by Swiss Meat and Sausage Company in Hermann. Family and friends are asked to bring a covered dish, salad or dessert. Beverages will be provided by Pepsi-Cola Bottling Co. of Rolla.

The picnic will include a baking competition with categories including pies, cakes and miscellaneous. Interested participants are asked to contact the station prior to the picnic, and to bring their entries to the event by 5 p.m. Prizes will be awarded for winning entries.

Special activities for younger members will be announced on air prior to the event.

KMST’s Volunteer of the Year 2009 will also be named at the picnic. Several dedicated KMST volunteers have been nominated, including Shirley Andrews, Amy Beechner-McCarthy, Kate Drowne, David Duncan, Betty Eyberg, Maureen Hall, Barbara Johnson, Jennifer Larkin and Loretta Wallis.

KMST is a 100,000-watt non-commercial, educational station licensed to the Curators of the University of Missouri System and is located at 88.5 FM in Rolla and surrounding communities (96.3 FM in Lebanon, Mo., at their translator facility) and online at www.kmst.org.

The picnic is sponsored by Fairground Auto Plaza, Phelps County Bank and Phelps County Regional Medical Center. KMST does not use any membership dollars to fund the picnic.
