U.S. Rep. Jo Ann Emerson will be the guest of honor at Missouri S&T’s International Students Day on Sunday, March 8, in the Havener Center. She will speak at 2 p.m. prior to the cultural show. The event is sponsored by the Missouri S&T International Students Club.
The day’s activities will begin at 10:30 a.m. with a display of cultural artifacts from China, Finland, Hong Kong, India, Iran, Iraq, Kuwait, Libya, Malaysia, Portugal, Saudi Arabia, Sri Lanka and Thailand. The Irish band “The Molly McGuire’s” will play from 11:15 a.m.-1:30 p.m. and the artifacts will be on display until 1:30 p.m.
A 10-course international dinner buffet is planned from noon to 2 p.m. Student tickets for the buffet are $6 in advance and $7 at the door. Buffet tickets for the public are $10 for age 15 and up, $5 for children age 10-15 and free for children under 10. Student meal plans will be accepted. Advance tickets are available from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. through Friday, March 7, at the Havener Center and at the door the day of the event.

Emerson will speak prior to the cultural show scheduled from 2-4:30 p.m. Several performances are planned, including a step show, a fashion show, Salsa and swing dance performances and an African dance troupe. Also participating in the event are the African Student Association (Nigeria, Botswana and Ghana) and the Rotaract Club.
