Two engineering students from Missouri University of Science and Technology have been selected to attend the International Petroleum Technology Conference Dec. 1-5 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Cody Bass, a senior in petroleum engineering, and Faten Zulkifli, a junior in petroleum engineering, are among 100 students from around the world who have been chosen to attend the Education Week part of the conference. In addition to learning more about the petroleum industry, the students will network with representatives from some of the world’s largest employers.
After she graduates, Zulkifli plans to go to work for Petronas, a Malaysian owned oil and gas company. “I’m Malaysian, so this conference is like going home for me,” Zulkifli says. “I actually got a full scholarship from Petronas to study at Missouri S&T.”
Both Zulkifli and Bass will have their December trips to Malaysia paid for by conference sponsors, including Petronas.
Bass, who also plays baseball at Missouri S&T, has already accepted a post-graduation job with Newfield Exploration in Tulsa, Okla. He will start working for the company next May.
