Readers of news.mst.edu will have new features available to them,
thanks to a platform change by the Missouri S&T public relations
office.  Starting today (Friday, Sept. 12), the office is using Movable
Type 4.0 to post and distribute the university’s news stories.
Visitors will now be able to submit comments, as well as find and share archived content easier. Additional benefits include:

  • improved search. Movable Type supports tagging, a method of categorizing online content, that assists users in finding relevant content with less hassle. Search engines, blogs and other news aggregators rely on tag-structures to find and index stories, resulting in improved publicity for the university.
  • commenting. Readers can express their opinions about Missouri S&T stories, allowing them to share their insights with fellow visitors. Comments are reviewed prior to posting to ensure they do not contain spam or inappropriate content.
  • better integration of multimedia. Staff members can more easily add audio, video and photo elements, increasing their ability to tell the Missouri S&T story.

RSS subscribers of Missouri S&T’s news feed should note the feed’s URL has changed. The new feed is available at news.mst.edu/atom.xml.
