Lynn Stichnote, director of admissions at Missouri University of Science and
Technology, will become director of student financial assistance on Sept. 16.
She will replace Bob Whites, who is retiring after 29 years at Missouri
S&T.
Stichnote has been a member of the Missouri S&T staff since 1989,
serving in variety of enrollment, financial aid and alumni development roles.
She has served as director of admissions since 2002. During that time, Missouri
S&T’s enrollment has grown by more than 30 percent. Stichnote and her teams
are credited with attracting four of S&T’s largest and most academically
talented freshmen classes.
“We wanted an experienced leader who would continue to support our
aggressive recruiting strategy while enhancing students’ financial access to
the university,” says Jay Goff, dean of enrollment management at Missouri
S&T. “We are very excited that Ms. Stichnote was interested in the
opportunity to lead our student financial assistance program. Her proactive
student service philosophy, strong financial leveraging background and true
love for Missouri S&T made her an ideal candidate.”
Stichnote’s higher education background includes experience in admissions,
financial aid, new student orientation and alumni relations. Her most notable
achievements at S&T include starting the family financial counseling
program, the student ambassador and campus tour guide programs, establishing
the Missouri S&T international application processing system, initiating a
financial aid leveraging program, and launching a faculty liaison program.
“I have really enjoyed working in different student support programs, but as
a first-generation college student, I always wanted the opportunity to ensure
that more students could afford a college degree,” says Stichnote. “I am
looking forward to working more closely with our wonderful financial aid
team.”
During her tenure at Missouri S&T, Stichnote has been an active member
of the university scholarship review committees, Parents Association Advisory
Committee, a curriculum review committee, the Chancellor’s African-American
Recruitment and Retention Committee, the student financial aid committee, the
NCAA compliance committee, KMST resource review board, and the marketing and
orientation committees. Currently she serves on the recruitment and retention
committees, the athletic task force, and the new student scholarship review
committee.
Stichnote holds a Bachelor of Science degree in animal science from the
University of Missouri-Columbia and is a graduate of Harvard University’s
Admissions Institute. She is the former president of the Missouri Association
of College Registrars and Admissions Officers.
The university is currently conducting a national search to fill the
director of admissions position.
