Missouri S&T public radio station KMST will celebrate its 35th
anniversary at its annual membership picnic. The celebration will be held from
4:30-7:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 5, at Lions Club Park on U.S. Highway 63 South in
Rolla.
KMST will supply pulled pork and smoked turkey provided by Swiss Meat and
Sausage Company in Hermann. Family and friends are asked to bring a covered
dish, salad or dessert. Beverages will be provided by Pepsi-Cola Bottling Co.
of Rolla.
The picnic will again include a baking competition with categories including
pies, cakes and miscellaneous. Interested participants are asked to contact the
station prior to the picnic. Special activities for younger members will be
announced on air prior to the event.
KMST’s Volunteer of the Year 2008 will also be named at the picnic. Several
dedicated KMST volunteers have been nominated, including Betty Eyber, Chili
Allen, Patricia Lizotte, Colin Smith, Bill Ricker and Jesse Singleton.

This year’s picnic is sponsored by Fairground Auto Plaza, Phelps County Bank
and Phelps County Regional Medical Center. KMST does not use any membership
dollars to fund the picnic.
