Missouri S&T student selected to portray St. Pat

Paul Voss, a junior in engineering management at Missouri University of Science
and Technology, will portray St. Patrick, the patron saint of engineers, during
the 100th celebration of St. Pat’s in Rolla. Voss is from St.
Louis.         

St. Pat and his court will officially arrive
in downtown Rolla at noon Wednesday, March 12, to preside over the annual
celebration. The court will also participate in formal coronation ceremonies at
9 p.m. Friday, March 14, in Leach Theatre of Missouri S&T’s Castleman Hall.
There, honorary knights and student knights will be dubbed and the St. Pat’s
Queen of Love and Beauty will be announced. The coronation event is open to the
public.         

The 2008 celebration culminates on Saturday,
March 15, with the annual St. Pat’s Parade through downtown Rolla, followed by
a re-enactment of events from 100 years ago. The parade begins at 11
a.m.         

The following are members of St. Pat’s court
this year:         

– Master guards: Jared Harrison, a
junior in mechanical engineering from Fenton, Mo; Daniel Ryan,a junior
in industrial engineering from Springfield,
Ill.         

– Guards: Elliott Giles, a junior in
mining engineering from St. Louis; Douglas Hunsicker, a junior in
computer engineering from St. Louis; Jeremiah Mohan, a junior in nuclear
engineering from St. Clair, Mo.; Kiernan Shea, a junior in mechanical
engineering from Columbus,
N.J.         

– Pages: Nathan Francis, a junior in
computer science from Troy, Mo.; Michael Guerin, a junior in mechanical
engineering from Kansas City,
Mo.         

– Herald: Adam King, a junior in civil
engineering from Kansas City, Mo.

– Trumpeter: Virginia Pacey, a junior
in biological sciences from Minneapolis.
