Ann Shenethia Manuel, assistant vice president of human resources at McHenry
County College in Crystal Lake, Ill., has been named the director of human
resources and affirmative action at Missouri University of Science and
Technology. Manuel’s appointment will begin April 6.
Manuel replaces Roger Jett, assistant director of human resource services,
who has served as interim director since former director Phyllis McCoy retired
in December 2007.
As director of human resources and affirmative action, Manuel will be
primarily responsible for managing the human resource and affirmative action
functions for Missouri S&T including employment, compensation and benefits,
legal compliance with federal and state laws regarding diversity in the faculty
and staff, and new employee orientation.
“We are delighted to have Shenethia Manuel lead our human resource office,”
says Steve Malott, vice chancellor of administrative services at Missouri
S&T. “She brings superb qualifications, solid experience and proven
leadership skills that will help take our already exemplary human resource and
affirmative action programs to the next level as envisioned by the campus
strategic plan.”
Prior to her current position at McHenry County College, Manuel served Rose
State College as director of grants and advisor to the president on
intercultural communications and education and subsequently as director of
personnel and the affirmative action officer. She also previously worked for
Carl Albert State College as director of human resources and the Educational
Opportunity Center.
Manuel earned a bachelor of science degree in social studies education from
the University of Oklahoma and a doctor of jurisprudence from the University of
Texas at Austin. She received a master of arts degree in ministry and culture
from Phillips Theological Seminary.
