will celebrate “Excellence in Humanities” on Tuesday, Feb.

Six faculty members from humanities
departments at Missouri S&T will be recognized for scholarly achievement
during a reception at 3:30 p.m. in the St. Pat’s Ballroom of the Havener Center
on campus.
The honorees include Dr. Diana Ahmad,
associate professor of history and political science; Dr. Jerry Cohen,
professor of arts, languages and philosophy; Dr. Kate Drowne, assistant
professor of English and technical communication; Dr. Irina Ivliyeva, assistant
professor of arts, languages and philosophy; Dr. Ed Malone, assistant professor
of English and technical communication; and Dr. John McManus, associate
professor of history and political
science.
Dr. James Giglio, the 2008 Maxwell C. Weiner
Distinguished Professor of Humanities at Missouri S&T, will also be honored
during the
reception.
The Feb. 5 event, sponsored by the office of
Provost Warren Kent Wray, will also feature two public guest lectures in the
St. Pat’s Ballroom. Dr. Angela Tumini of the University of Mississippi will
discuss “Playing with Female Gender and Transgender Roles” in Contemporary
American Cinema at 2 p.m. and Dr. Patrick Quinn, also of the University of
Mississippi, will deliver a talk titled “From Rampant Patriotism to Utter
Despair: Soldier Poets in World War I” at 7:30 p.m.
