The international affairs office at the University of Missouri-Rolla, in
conjunction with UMR study abroad programs and the UMR International Students
Association, will sponsor a Global Showcase from noon-1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov.
14, in the Havener Center Atrium.

The showcase will feature UMR students, faculty and staff who will share
cultural items, photos and other materials from their home countries. The event
will also feature a tasting component with a variety of snacks and treats from
different countries. American students who have participated in study abroad
programs will share their materials, photos and anecdotes.

The event will also recognize and celebrate the contributions of
international education in our global society as part of International
Education Week (IEW), held Nov. 12-16. IEW is sponsored by the U.S. Department
of State and the U.S. Department of Education. This year’s theme,
“International Education: Fostering Global Citizenship and Respect",
acknowledges the importance of teaching our youth to be responsible, respectful
world citizens.
