The University of Missouri-Rolla physics department is sponsoring a Visitors’ Night at the UMR Observatory beginning at 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 21. The moon and Jupiter will be visible through the university’s 16-inch telescope.
“Visitors’ Nights are scheduled for the first quarter moon and we also view whatever planets or other bright objects that are in the night sky at that time and date,” says Dr. John L. Schmitt, UMR associate professor of physics.
Viewing is free of charge and no reservations are required. However, the weather may impact viewing.
The UMR Observatory is located north of McNutt Hall and near St. Patrick’s Lane on the UMR campus.
