Beginning with “Stranger Than Fiction” on Tuesday, Aug. 28, this season’s
University of Missouri-Rolla Free Film Festival will showcase 14 critically
acclaimed feature films and documentaries.
“This semester’s films are an eclectic mix of terrific films, including a
mini film noir festival,” says Dr. James J. Bogan Jr., Curators’ Teaching
Professor of art history and film at UMR and director of the UMR Film
Series.
The films are free and open to the public. The movies will be shown at 7
p.m. on Tuesdays in Leach Theatre of UMR’s Castleman Hall, 10th and Main
streets in Rolla, Mo., with the exception of “Maxed Out” on Oct. 23 and “City
Lights” on Oct. 30, which will be screened in Room 104 Physics Building on the
UMR campus.

The UMR Film Festival is supported by the Missouri Arts Council; the UMR
