UMR Free Fall Film Series to feature acclaimed movies

Beginning with “Stranger Than Fiction” on Tuesday, Aug. 28, this season’s
University of Missouri-Rolla Free Film Festival will showcase 14 critically
acclaimed feature films and documentaries.

“This semester’s films are an eclectic mix of terrific films, including a
mini film noir festival,” says Dr. James J. Bogan Jr., Curators’ Teaching
Professor of art history and film at UMR and director of the UMR Film

The films are free and open to the public. The movies will be shown at 7
p.m. on Tuesdays in Leach Theatre of UMR’s Castleman Hall, 10th and Main
streets in Rolla, Mo., with the exception of “Maxed Out” on Oct. 23 and “City
Lights” on Oct. 30, which will be screened in Room 104 Physics Building on the
UMR campus.

Schultze Gets the Blues — Nov. 6

The Queen — Nov. 13

The Namesake — Nov. 27

Princess Mononoke — Dec. 4

The UMR Film Festival is supported by the Missouri Arts Council; the UMR
Campus Performing Arts Series; the UMR division of student affairs; the office
of the UMR provost; the office of the UMR chancellor; UMR’s Curtis Laws Wilson
Library; the UMR department of arts, languages and philosophy; the UMR
department of civil, architectural and environmental engineering and the UMR
Student Union Board.
