The UMR cheerleading squad earned a first place trophy and four superior ribbons at the Universal Cheerleaders Association camp held in July at Missouri State University in Springfield.
The squad won the first place award in the small coed sideline competition after earning the four ribbons signifying the highest ranking in four different evaluation areas.
"Since I’ve been involved with the squad for the past nine years, this was our first opportunity to attend a summer camp," said Erica Long, the university’s cheerleader and dance coach. "Even though we were missing five members, the squad performed amazingly and really came together as a team.
"Bringing home a first place trophy was a great way to top off a wonderful experience and we can’t wait to do it again next year," she added.
