The 2007 Undergraduate Research Conference at the University of Missouri-Rolla is scheduled for Wednesday, April 11, at the Havener Center on campus.

This is the third year for the event, which gives undergraduates opportunities to showcase their research efforts to the campus community and general public.

UMR undergraduates from any discipline are eligible to participate in oral or poster sessions, individually or in small groups. This year, 58 UMR students are entered in the all-day event. Judges award cash prizes in nine categories, which are based on fields of study.

“The conference is unique because it is a contest,” says Dr. Harvest Collier, vice provost of undergraduate and graduate studies at UMR. “Students are responsible for answering questions, interpreting data, showing they contributed — it’s what they’ll be experiencing out there in the real world.”

James Unnerstall, UMR graduate and chief operating officer of McCormick Scientific and Coretech Holdings, will give the keynote address during a luncheon at noon in the St. Pat’s Ballroom of the Havener Center.

An awards ceremony will be held at 4 p.m.
