The University Orchestra will host a concert at 8 p.m. Thursday, March 22, in Leach Theatre of UMR’s Castleman Hall, 10th and Main streets in Rolla. The performance is free for all students and youths under the age of 18. Tickets are $3 for the general public and are available at the door and at the Leach Theatre Box Office.

The program will feature special guest violinist Adrian Walker performing a Felix Mendelssohn violin concerto. Walker is an area violin teacher. The concert will also feature a performance of Antonin Dvorak’s Symphony No. 8.

“Dvorak’s Eighth Symphony is a cheery work inspired by Bohemian folk tales,” explains Dr. Donald Miller, conductor of the groups and assistant professor of music at UMR. “It will be entertaining for the audience and performers alike.”

For more information about the concert, contact the UMR performing arts office at 573 341-4185.
