Students to be knighted during St. Pat’s celebration

Student Knights of St. Patrick have been selected to represent University of Missouri-Rolla student organizations during coronation ceremonies at 9 p.m. Friday, March 16, in Leach Theatre of Castleman Hall on the UMR campus.

The practice of knighting students every spring can be traced back to the beginning of the 20th century, when UMR engineering students declared St. Patrick the patron saint of engineers.         

This is the 99th annual St. Pat’s Celebration at UMR. The 2007 Knights of St. Patrick are: 

MISSOURI         

Cedar Hill – Mark Layton, a senior in engineering management, representing Sigma Nu        

Chesterfield – Jessica Fazio, a senior in chemical engineering, representing Chi Omega         

De Soto – Thomas Hudson, a senior in mechanical engineering, representing Lambda Chi Alpha         

Dixon – Tera Humphrey, a senior in biological sciences, representing Thomas Jefferson Hall Association         

Ellisville – David Miles, a senior in civil, architectural and environmental engineering, representing Kappa Alpha Order         

Eureka – Mark Chapman, a senior in petroleum engineering, representing Sigma Tau Gamma         

Florissant – Steve Kormann, a senior in electrical engineering, representing Tau Kappa Epsilon
