The University Choir and Chamber Choir at the University of Missouri-Rolla will present their holiday concert at 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 1, in Leach Theatre of Castleman Hall, 10 and Main streets in Rolla. Admission is $3 for adults and free for students.
Planned pieces for the performance include such traditional carols as "Still, Still, Still" and "Away in a Manger" arranged by Mack Wilberg, and "Masters in This Hall" arranged by John Miller. The concert will also feature contemporary holiday music like "O Magnum Mysterium" written by Francis Poulenc and "A Jubilant Song" by Walt Whitman and John Leavitt. Accompanists for the choirs are UMR students Scott Brendler and Brandi Anderson.
Following the concert, the audience is invited to join the choirs for cookies and punch while the singers continue to perform traditional Christmas Carols.
University Choir is open to all UMR students, faculty, staff, and the Rolla community and performs literature appropriate for a large ensemble; no audition is required. Newly formed this semester, the Chamber Choir is an audition-only small vocal ensemble.
