The University Symphony Orchestra and the University Chamber Orchestra will host a concert at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 3, in Leach Theatre of UMR’s Castleman Hall, 10th and Main streets in Rolla. The performance is free for students and $3 for the general public. Tickets are available at the door and at the Leach Theatre Box Office.
“It will be a wonderful concert, featuring some of the classics for orchestras,” says Dr. Donald Miller, conductor of the groups and assistant professor of music at UMR.
The University Symphony Orchestra, composed of UMR students and members of the Rolla community, will perform “Symphony No. 2,” by Ludwig van Beethoven, “The Barber of Seville” by Gioachino Rossini and “Overture for Winds” by Felix Mendelssohn.
The Chamber Orchestra, an all-student ensemble, will perform “Sinfonia in G” by Michael Haydn, “Two Viola Concerto in G Major” by Georg Philipp Telemann and “Gymnopédies” by Satie-Debussy.
