As part of a growing alliance between Chevron Corp. and the University of Missouri-Rolla, senior executives from Chevron will visit UMR Oct. 31.

Chevron recently pledged $1.5 million to UMR for educational and research initiatives. A signing ceremony will be held at 8 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 31, in the Turner Room of the Havener Center on campus.

UMR is home to the only petroleum engineering program in Missouri. More than 120 UMR graduates are employed by Chevron.

Portions of Chevron’s gift will provide for UMR’s new Heavy Oil Extraction Lab, for upgrades of existing general laboratory equipment and for an educational initiative in mechanical earth modeling.

The partnership also includes a research agreement that will facilitate exchanges of visiting scientists and simplify the processes of performing Chevron-specific research projects at UMR.
