Candidates for Homecoming Queen announced

University of Missouri-Rolla student organizations have nominated students to compete for the title of 2006 Homecoming Queen.

The winner is chosen after interviews and a campuswide election held the week prior to Homecoming, which is on the weekend of Oct. 20-22

The queen and king, and the runners-up, will be announced during halftime ceremonies of UMR’s Homecoming football game on Saturday, Oct. 21. The game, which features UMR and Southern Nazarene University, starts at 1 p.m.

The queen candidates are:

MISSOURI

Bonne Terre – Ashley Rasnic, a senior in engineering management, nominated by Phi Sigma Rho

Des Peres – Lauren Huchingson, a senior in information science and technology, nominated by Zeta Tau Alpha

Florissant – Hannah Turner, a junior in undergraduate engineering, nominated by Thomas Jefferson Hall Association.

Hallsville – Heather Parnell, a junior in civil engineering, nominated by Beta Sigma Psi

Hillsboro – Mandy Pershing, a senior in aerospace engineering, nominated by Quadrangle Hall Association

Marshall – Margaret Thompson, a senior in biological sciences, nominated by Pi Kappa Alpha

St. Louis – Dawn Walker, a senior in ceramic engineering, nominated by Kappa Alpha

ILLINOIS

Collinsville – Collette Galaske, a senior in chemical engineering, nominated by Chi Omega

Lebanon – Kelly McCoy, a junior in electrical engineering, nominated by Student Council

Maryville – Kendra Waltermire, a senior in biological sciences, nominated by Kappa Delta.
