University of Missouri-Rolla public radio station KUMR will host its annual membership picnic from 4:30-7:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 15, at Lions’ Club Park on U.S. Highway 63 South in Rolla.

KUMR will supply the main dishes, which include pulled pork, brisket sandwiches, hot dogs and veggie burgers. Underwriters and friends are asked to bring a covered dish, salad or dessert. This year, the picnic will include a baking competition with three categories: pies, cakes, and miscellaneous foods.

KUMR’s Volunteer of the Year will also be announced and awarded at the picnic. Several dedicated KUMR volunteers have been nominated, including Wayne Huebner, vice provost for research at UMR; Bob Phelan, manager of the UMR Student Design Center; Mindy Limback, communications specialist at UMR; and community members Mark Long, Suzanne Paul, Bill Ricker and Richard Cavendar.

Reservations are required for the picnic. Those interested are asked to RSVP in advance by calling the station at 573-341-4386 or 800-388-5867.

KUMR is a 100,000-watt non-commercial, educational station licensed to the Curators of the University of Missouri System and is located at 88.5FM (96.3 FM in Lebanon, Mo., at their translator facility) and online at www.kumr.org.

This year’s picnic is sponsored by Phelps County Bank, Phelps County Medical Center and Fairground Auto Plaza. Food and drink will be supplied by Swiss Meat and Sausage Co. and the Rolla division of Pepsi-Cola Bottling Co.
