Missouri artists and members of the University of Missouri-Rolla community are invited to submit their artwork to the fourth annual “Inspired by Writing” art show, which will be hosted by the UMR Writing Center.

“All local artists are invited to submit work that has in some way been inspired by writing,” says Dr. Kate Drowne, director of the Writing Center at UMR. “Inspiration for these works may come from a variety of sources, including a book or a poem, a piece of journalism, or even the writing process itself. All media are welcome, and in the past we have displayed two-dimensional paintings, drawings, computer-generated images, mosaics and photography, as well as three-dimensional sculpture, metalwork, and even furniture.”

Submissions should be brought to the UMR Writing Center, Room 113 Campus Support Facility on the UMR campus. Submissions will be accepted Sunday, Oct. 1, through Wednesday, Oct. 18.

The public is invited to attend an opening reception for the “Inspired by Writing” art show at 3:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 19, in the Writing Center. The reception is free, and refreshments will be served. Art will remain on display until Thanksgiving.

For more information on the show, contact Lorraine Woolsey of the UMR Writing Center at 573-314-4436 or email lorrain@mst.edu .
