Learn how to obtain federal research and development funding by attending a free seminar, “Funding Technology Development,” from 4:30-5:30 p.m. Aug. 9 at the Meramec Regional Planning Commission, 4 Industrial Drive, St. James, Mo.
“The seminar is designed to give inventors and entrepreneurs in the community the opportunity to learn about the processes of obtaining federal research and development funding with respect to viable technologies,” says John Parfet, technology business development director for the Center for Entrepreneurship and Outreach (CEO) at the University of Missouri-Rolla. “We want to inform people about the steps involved, including the development of a competitive proposal.”
Those who attend the seminar will learn about federal agencies that fund research and development projects and what local resources are available to assist in competing for funds. The seminar is open to business owners, potential entrepreneurs, university researchers, economic developers, attorneys and the general public.
The seminar is being co-hosted by CEO and the Meramec Regional Planning Commission. CEO is a partnership of UMR and the University of Missouri Extension, in conjunction with the Missouri Small Business Development Center, the Missouri Federal and State Technology Program and the Missouri Procurement Technical Assistance Centers.
