Dr. Don L. Warner, professor emeritus of geological engineering and former dean of the School of Mines and Metallurgy at the University of Missouri-Rolla, has been appointed to the state’s Board of Geologist Registration by Missouri Gov. Matt Blunt. Warner’s appointment was recently confirmed by the Missouri Senate.
The Missouri Board of Geologist Registration was established in 1994 to license individuals engaged in geological practices that impact public health, safety and welfare.
Warner, whose term on the board lasts until April of 2007, earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in geological engineering from the Colorado School of the Mines and a Ph.D. in engineering science from the University of California-Berkeley.
At UMR, Warner was known for his research in groundwater modeling. He joined the faculty in 1969 and was appointed dean of the UMR School of Mines and Metallurgy in 1981.
