For a good view of features on the moon or a sighting of Saturn’s rings, look no further than the University of Missouri-Rolla Observatory. The observatory will host three Visitors’ Nights during the current semester, including one at 7 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 3.

The Feb. 3 Visitors’ Night, the first of the semester, features the moon and Mars. Viewings of the moon, Mars and Saturn will be held at 8 p.m. Friday, March 3, and at 9 p.m. Friday, April 7.

The UMR Observatory is located north of McNutt Hall on campus, near St. Patrick’s Lane. Viewing is subject to weather conditions. Visitors’ Nights at the UMR Observatory are free and open to the public. For more information, contact Dr. John Schmitt, associate professor of physics at UMR, at (573) 341-4369 or jschmitt@mst.edu.
