UMR Spring 2006 Free Film Festival to feature acclaimed movies

Beginning with “Cinderella Man” on Tuesday, Jan. 17, this season’s University of Missouri-Rolla Free Film Festival will showcase 14 critically acclaimed feature films.

The films are free and open to the public. The movies will be shown at 7 p.m. on Tuesdays in Leach Theatre of UMR’s Castleman Hall, 10th and Main streets in Rolla, Mo., with the exception of “The Big Sleep” on Feb. 21 and “Murder Ball” on Feb. 28. Both movies will be screened in Shrenk Hall on the UMR campus.

The Spring 2006 UMR Free Film Festival includes the following motion pictures: “Cinderella Man” (Jan. 17), “Constant Gardener” (Jan. 24), “The March of the Penguins” (Jan. 31), “Downfall” (Feb. 7), “City of Ghosts” (Feb. 14), “The Big Sleep” (Feb. 21), “Murder Ball” (Feb. 28), “House of Sand and Fog” (March 7), “Lords of Dogtown” (March 21), “Character” (April 4), “Safety Last” (April 11), “The Secret of Roan Inish” (April 18), “Good Luck and Good Night” (April 25), and “The Meaning of Life” (May 2).

The film festival is supported by the Missouri Arts Council; the UMR College of Arts and Sciences; the UMR Campus Performing Arts Program; UMR Student Union Board; UMR department of civil engineering; UMR department of arts, language and philosophy and UMR’s Curtis Laws Wilson Library.
