The Chinese Students and Scholars Association at the University of Missouri-Rolla, will bring the Chinese Spring Festival to the UMR campus on Sunday, Jan. 29.
This year’s show will be held at 5 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 29, in Leach Theatre of Castleman Hall, 10th and Main streets in Rolla. The show is free and open to the public, but tickets will be required and are available at the door starting at 4 p.m. Jan. 29.
The Chinese Spring Festival celebrates the lunar new year and is the most important festival in Asia. The celebration typically lasts several days in China and is a time for renewal, gathering with family, and paying respect to ancestors and elders.
In addition to the Chinese cultural showcase, the celebration will also feature authentic Chinese cuisine. At 7 p.m. the celebration will move to the Havener Center on the UMR campus, where an authentic Chinese meal will be served. Tickets are $3 and can be purchased between noon and 1:30 p.m. Jan. 23-27 in front of the UMR Library and the Havener Center on campus.
