UMR to welcome Dr. John F. Carney III

The UMR community will welcome Chancellor-designate John F. Carney III to campus with a news conference and ice cream social on Friday, Sept. 2.
University of Missouri President Elson Floyd will introduce Carney during the news conference, which begins at 1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 2, in the Turner Room of the Havener Center. The ice cream social will begin at 1:30 p.m. in the outdoor dining area of Havener.
The campus community is invited to both events.
Carney, the former provost and vice president for academic affairs at Worcester Polytechnic University in Worcester, Mass., was named UMR chancellor in March. He formally takes office Sept. 1, succeeding Dr. Gary Thomas, who served as chancellor for five years.
