University of Missouri-Rolla public radio station KUMR will host its annual membership picnic from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 17, at Lions Club Park on U.S. Highway 63 South in Rolla.

The theme of this year’s picnic is “Old Fashioned Picnic on the Lawn.” Prizes will be awarded to those who bring the best homemade ice cream.

KUMR will make ice cream for all picnic attendees with an old-fashioned, wheel-turned ice cream freezer. In addition, they will supply beverages, hot dogs, veggie burgers, hamburgers and buns, as well as pulled pork. Underwriters and friends are asked to bring a covered dish, salad or dessert.

Reservations are required for the picnic. Those interested are asked to RSVP in advance by calling the station at (573) 341-4386 or (800) 388-5867.

KUMR is a 100,000-watt non-commercial, educational station licensed to the Curators of the University of Missouri System and is located at 88.5FM (96.3 FM in Lebanon, Mo., at their translator facility) and online at www.kumr.org.

This year’s picnic is sponsored by Phelps County Bank, Beneath the Bark LLC Custom Cabinetry and Kate Howell/South Central Missouri Realty.
