The UMR office of publications recently received an award of excellence in the special event category from the University & College Designers Association (UCDA).
The winning entry, Voyage of Discovery, consisted of an invitation and program created for UMR’s Order of the Golden Shillelagh annual weekend, a special event held each spring. The materials, designed to commemorate the 200th anniversary of the Lewis and Clark Expedition, were created by Ian Nance, who designed the pieces, and Tricia Murphy, who wrote the promotional copy. Both Nance and Murphy are communications specialists in the UMR office of publications.
The entry, which is judged on concept, design, illustration and printing, was a joint project between the office of publications, the office of development and the office of printing services. UMR’s entry was one of 199 award recipients selected from 1,300 print entries.
UMR will receive its award at the UCDA 34th Annual Design Competition on Oct. 3, in Vail, Colo.
UCDA is the national professional organization for college and university graphic designers.
