UMR students are building a robotic race car in hopes of winning a competition sponsored by the Institute of Electronics and Electrical Engineers (IEEE).
The engineering students are pitting their "robotic racer" against those designed and built by teams from other colleges and universities throughout the Midwest in the IEEE Region 5 Robotics Competition April 3 at the NCED/Marriott Convention Center in Norman, Okla.
The competition requires a self-guided, robotic toy car to navigate through a race course in the shortest amount of time while transporting one ping pong ball. The UMR team’s robot uses digital signal processing, sonar, sensors and other devices to navigate through the race course.
