Dr. Donald Wunsch, the Mary K. Finley Missouri Distinguished Professor of Computer Engineering at the University of Missouri-Rolla, was recently named president-elect of the International Neural Network Society (INNS), a multi-disciplinary society.
Wunsch currently serves as an action editor of the INNS journal Neural Networks. He was previously elected to a three-year term as a member of the INNS Board of Governors. In addition, he has served as program co-chair and general chair of the International Joint Conference on Neural Networks, a conference co-sponsored by the INNS and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers.
Wunsch worked for the Boeing Co. as a senior principal scientist for nearly a decade before entering the academic field. He served as an associate professor of electrical engineering and director of the Applied Computational Intelligence Laboratory at Texas Tech University before joining UMR in 1999.
Wunsch earned his bachelor of science degree in applied mathematics from the University of New Mexico in 1984 before obtaining his master of science degree in applied mathematics from the University of Washington in 1987. He received his Ph.D. in electrical engineering from the University of Washington in 1991.
