UMR faculty members receive excellence awards

Nineteen University of Missouri-Rolla faculty members received Faculty Excellence Awards from UMR Chancellor Gary Thomas during an awards dinner Dec. 16.

The awards are given annually to recognize teaching, research and service excellence. Each award winner receives a $2,500 stipend funded by industry and alumni contributions.

Receiving the awards were:
– Dr. Daryl Beetner, assistant professor, electrical and computer engineering.
– Dr. Abdeldjelil "DJ" Belarbi, professor, civil, architectural and environmental engineering.
– Dr. Massimo Bertino, assistant professor, physics.
– Dr. Joel Burken, associate professor, civil, architectural and environmental engineering.
– Dr. James Drewniak, professor, electrical and computer engineering.
– Dr. William Fahrenholtz, assistant professor, ceramic engineering.
– Dr. Michael Hilgers, associate professor, computer science.
– Dr. Greg Hilmas, assistant professor, ceramic engineering.
– Dr. Todd Hubing, professor, electrical and computer engineering.
– Dr. Rajiv Mishra, associate professor, metallurgical engineering.
– Dr. Melanie Mormile, assistant professor, biological sciences.
– Dr. John Myers, assistant professor, civil, architectural and environmental engineering.
– Dr. Francisca Oboh-Ikuenobe, associate professor, geology and geophysics.
– Dr. Matthew O’Keefe, associate professor, metallurgical engineering.
– Dr. Kent Peaslee, associate professor, metallurgical engineering.
– Dr. Steven Pekarek, associate professor, electrical and computer engineering.
– Dr. Michael Schulz, professor, physics.
– Dr. Robert Stone, associate professor, basic engineering.
– Dr. David Westenberg, associate professor, biological sciences.
