Professor receives IEEE award

Dr. Babak Fahimi, assistant professor of electrical and computer engineering at the University of Missouri-Rolla, recently received the Richard Bass Outstanding Award from the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) Power Electronics Society (PELS).

This award is given to an individual under the age of 35 who shows outstanding achievement in power electronics. Fahimi received a cash award of $500, a certificate and reimbursement for transportation expenses up to $500 to attend the annual PELS Awards Banquet.

Fahimi joined UMR in June 2002. His main research interests include adjustable speed motor drives and power electronics converters; intelligent control of electric machinery; and the study of acoustic noise and vibration in electric machines.
