UMR professor wins Governor’s Award

Dr. J. Keith Nisbett, associate professor and associate chair of mechanical engineering at the University of Missouri-Rolla, is the recipient of the 2002 Governor’s Award for Excellence in Teaching.

Gov. Bob Holden and members of the Missouri Coordinating Board for Higher Education recognized Nisbett during the Governor’s Conference on Higher Education held Dec. 4 in Jefferson City, Mo.

The awards are based on effective teaching, effective advising, service to the university community, commitment to high standards of excellence and success in nurturing student achievement.

Nisbett has won numerous Outstanding Teacher and Faculty Excellence awards during his time at UMR. His areas of research include kinematics, mechanical design and mechanism synthesis. He is a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers and the American Society for Engineering Education.
