Missouri S&T faculty honored for excellence

Twenty four faculty members from Missouri University of Science and Technology were honored for excellence and achievement in research, service and teaching during an awards ceremony held on the Missouri S&T campus on Feb. 21.

Each award winner received a monetary stipend funded by industry and alumni contributions.

The 2016 Faculty Excellence Award was presented to:

  • Dr. Mehdi Ferdowsi, professor of electrical and computer engineering
  • Dr. Kelly Liu, professor of geosciences and geological and petroleum engineering
  • Dr. Joshua Rovey, associate professor of mechanical and aerospace engineering
  • Dr. Lesley Sneed, associate professor of civil, architectural and environmental engineering.

The 2016 Faculty Achievement Award was presented to:

  • Lorie L. Francis, assistant teaching professor of arts, languages and philosophy
  • Merilee A. Krueger, associate teaching professor of psychological science
  • Dr. Honglan Shi, research professor, chemistry
  • Dr. Theresa Swift, associate teaching professor of electrical and computer engineering
  • Kelly J. Tate, assistant teaching professor of English and technical communication
  • Terry Wilson, associate teaching professor of biological sciences.

The 2016 Faculty Research Award was presented to:

  • Dr. Mohsen Asle Zaeem, assistant professor of materials science and engineering
  • Dr. Kyle DeMars, assistant professor of mechanical and aerospace engineering
  • Dr. Robert Landers, professor of mechanical and aerospace engineering
  • Dr. Mingzhen Wei, assistant professor of geosciences and geological and petroleum engineering
  • Dr. Yahong Rosa Zheng, professor of electrical and computer engineering.

The 2016 Faculty Service Award was presented to:

  • Dr. Petra DeWitt, assistant professor of history and political science
  • Dr. Stephen Gao, professor of geosciences and geological and petroleum engineering
  • Dr. Steve E. Watkins, professor of electrical and computer engineering.

The 2016 Faculty Teaching Award was presented to:

  • Dr. Petra DeWitt, assistant professor of history and political science
  • Dr. Kelvin Erickson, professor of electrical and computer engineering
  • Dr. Stephen Gao, professor of geosciences and geological and petroleum engineering
  • Dr. Amber Henslee, assistant professor of psychological science
  • Dr. J. Keith Nisbett, associate professor of mechanical and aerospace engineering
  • Dr. Dev K. Niyogi, associate professor of biological sciences
  • Dr. Kathleen Sheppard, assistant professor of history and political science
  • Dr. J. Greg Story, associate professor of physics.
