This fall, the international affairs office at the University of Missouri-Rolla is again sponsoring the International Friends Program to help match international students with individuals and families in the community.

The University of Missouri-Rolla will present five professional productions for the 2004-2005 season of the UMR Family Series. All events will be held in Leach Theatre of Castleman Hall on the UMR campus. The Family Series is presented by the UMR Department of Student Life.

Undergraduate enrollment on the first day of classes at the University of Missouri-Rolla is expected to be 4,052, an increase of 14 students over last year’s record figure of 4,038, says Laura Stoll, UMR registrar. The undergraduate enrollment is now more than 12 percent larger than that of fall 2000.

Six researchers from the Natural Hazards Mitigation Institute at the University of Missouri-Rolla will share recent research findings related to protecting bridges from earthquake damage during an upcoming Geotechnical and Bridge Seismic Design workshop, set for Oct. 28-29 in Cape Girardeau, Mo.

Andy Stewart, director of the Curtis Laws Wilson Library at UMR and a member of the U.S. Army Reserves, was recently called into active duty.
