UMR chair to spend 2006 with National Science Foundation

Dr. Judy Raper, chair of the chemical and biological engineering department at the University of Missouri-Rolla, will spend 2006 on sabbatical with the National Science Foundation. Dr. Douglas Ludlow, who served as the department’s chair from 1997-2003, will become interim chair effective Jan. 2.

Grant gives Lincoln students nuclear engineering options through UMR

The Department of Energy is supporting a University of Missouri-Rolla plan to cultivate nuclear engineering students at Lincoln University. The DOE announced Dec. 7 that it has awarded UMR a $375,000 grant to foster the partnership with Lincoln, a minority-serving higher education institution in Jefferson City, Mo.

Nash tells UMR grads to go forth and ‘seek healthy adventure’

In his commencement address Saturday (Dec. 17, 2005), Zebulun (Zeb) Nash challenged the University of Missouri-Rolla graduating class to use their educations to make the world a better place. A former Peace Corps volunteer, Nash added: “Be flexible, and seek healthy adventure in your lives.”
